Anxiety
Anxiety is typically characterised by feeling a lot of worry, stress and feeling overwhelmed. It can include physical symptoms such as a racing heart, feeling sweaty, feeling shaky and nauseous. It can have a significant impact on everyday activities (e.g. work, study, seeing friends and family).
Anxiety is an accumulation of stress which can become disabling, especially if we adopt avoidance strategies. This means that we stop doing the things that make us anxious which in turn lowers our distress. This unhelpful pattern can become a habit.
The sooner we seek help with anxiety the less it gets a foot-hold in our lives the sooner we can find better ways of dealing with it.
